  Report a Rare Bird

NARBA defines rare birds as birds who are infrequent visitors to the U.S. and Canada, or birds who are difficult to find due to their habits or due to the short duration of their stays in our area. NARBA reports primarily ABA Code 4 and 5 birds, as well as some ABA Code 3 birds. (See list below for the birds reported by NARBA.) If you are aware of any of these birds in the U.S. or Canada, please send your report to staff@narba.org. Please provide the location and observation date, plus a phone number where we can reach you for further details, if needed.

Remember that it is considered proper courtesy to also notify the rare bird alert (RBA) in the locality of the rare bird. The ABA website has lists of local RBA telephone numbers and state birding websites in their Birder Resources section.

Birds reported on the Texas Rare Bird Alert include birds listed on the Texas Review List as well as birds of special interest. Reports for the Texas RBA should also be sent to staff@narba.org.
